FAQ

Just like male/external condoms, female condoms act as a barrier between the sperm and the egg and stop the fertilisation of an egg.

A female or internal condom must be inserted before any genital contact, many people also prefer to insert it a few hours before sexual activity so as to not interrupt sexual activity. You can also make the insertion of a female condom part of foreplay. A female condom can be inserted up to 8 hours before vaginal intercourse. However, these condoms are supposed to be disposed of after one-time use.

Genital contact before insertion of a condom (precum) may lead to pregnancy, a condom may get pushed too far into the vagina, and the condom may break or get damaged by sharp objects like fingernails or jewellery. If you believe that a condom has gotten less effective because of any of the aforementioned reasons you should consider emergency contraception and an STI test.

Open the packet and remove the condom, without tearing it (do not open with your teeth). Never buy expired condoms (we’ll check that for you, no need to worry :))!

Squeeze the smaller ring at the closed end of the condom and put it into the vagina. Make sure the large ring at the open end of the condom covers the area around the opening of the vagina. Make sure that the condom rests against your cervix and is not twisted while inserting.

Make sure the penis goes in the female condom, not between the condom and the side of the vagina. After sex, remove the female condom immediately by gently pulling it out. You can twist the large ring to prevent semen from leaking out.
